• can rarely be grown in cell cultures

• in sucklin mice : attack striated skeletal muscle, produce generalized myositis which results in flaccid paralyis

• Diseases :

• • Herpangia (sore throat, shallow ulcers in throat, fever) and aseptic meningitis
  • H-F-M disease : blisters and rashes
  • Paralytic disease : acute flaccid paralysis
  • Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (A24)
