Viral RNA
- RNA is naked, no proteins are bound to RNA.. (vs – ss viruses)
- RNA contains secondary structures
- 3' noncoding region contains RNA conserved pseudoknot
- 3AB-CD binds 3' end and may direct the polymerase to that site for initiation of the – strand
- polyA is encoded in the vRNA
- mRNA is identical to genomic mRNA; no switch necessary
- No regulation for individual gene products (can be controlled by rate and extent of polyprotein processing)
