• • RNA is naked, no proteins are bound to RNA.. (vs – ss viruses)
  • RNA contains secondary structures
  • 3' noncoding region contains RNA conserved pseudoknot
  • 3AB-CD binds 3' end and may direct the polymerase to that site for initiation of the – strand
  • polyA is encoded in the vRNA
  • mRNA is identical to genomic mRNA; no switch necessary
  • • • No regulation for individual gene products (can be controlled by rate and extent of polyprotein processing)
