• Research into PKC is difficult because:

  • many isotypes with broad overlapping functions
  • low substrate specificity complicates identification of genuine substrates
  • potential for amount of substrates is high => difference between in vitro and in vivo substrates

• Approach :

  • regulatory domains are most diverse
  • look for conserved regions in these domains!
